I have a passion for working with words – and for making words work.
Writing, editing, rewriting, proofreading, copy-editing, devising house style guides, setting editorial standards, and training and coaching in effective writing. For print or for the web. That’s what I do.
My favourite work? Helping your website or communication to sing. That means drawing out the essence of your content or message while championing the audience’s need for clarity, brevity and ease of reading. Next best? Anything interesting that involves words.
Experience and training
I am an Advanced Professional Member of the Society for Editors and Proofreaders (SfEP), which means that I have demonstrated a high degree of competence, have kept up with professional training and have substantial experience.
My experience includes two long-term in-house contractor roles as lead editor and as website content editor. Also, recent contracts where I provided writing and editorial services as part of a large bid team. Otherwise, I have long been a freelance – sorting out the words for a variety of organisations and providing training and consultancy in writing skills.
I have a BA (Hons) degree in English from Royal Holloway College, University of London.
